Calendar
There is a rhythm to the year in Tiny Empires. Certain events are tied to certain months, while others follow no fixed pattern. Here is a guide to the events that happen at specified times.
January
Census, in even-numbered years only. Gold is received based on direct subjects held and (Federation HUD only) citizens.
Festival: A festival, when held, begins with the announcement that gold production for the year is matched by the Emperor. Festivals are a Federation HUD event.
January through April
Opportunities to buy or sell land normally happen three times per year. One chance occurs in this period.
February
Festival: Fortune teller is paid
March
Festival: Fortunes are given
April
Festival: Entries are made for the joust (one acre)
May
Festival: First round of jousting
May through August
Opportunities to buy or sell land normally happen three times per year. One chance occurs in this period.
June
Festival: First round jousting results
July
Festival: Second round of jousting
August
Festival: Second round jousting results
September
Reckoning of citizens (Federation HUD only). If you are over 150% of capacity you generally receive a reminder from your accountant that your income increase is limited to 150%. This applies only to monthly homage income. If you are over 5000% of capacity this is the time that you may see excess citizens die off.
Festival: If a festival is to be held it is announced in September of the year before. During Festival, September is the turn in which the third and final round of jousts occurs.
September through December
Opportunities to buy or sell land normally happen three times per year. One chance occurs in this period.
October
Riddles and surveys and votes. One of these things will happen.
- A riddle is just that; attempt to answer it, and get gold if you are right.
- A survey values unity, not accuracy; if you answer with 75% of the respondents you get gold.
- A vote normally asks if players of a certain rank or higher should pay a special tax; majority rules.
Festival: If a festival is to be held, interested monarchs submit bids at this time through the HUD. During Festival, third round jousting results are announced and prizes paid to the winners of three jousts.
November
Results of October's activity are announced and applicable payments made. Monarchs may be called upon to decide on tax amnesties.
Festival: If a festival is starting the host is announced now. During Festival, prepare to attend the winter ball.
December
Taxes are paid, typically 30% of the year's profits (income from personal acres only; smaller percentage at lower ranks).
Festival: If a festival is starting this is the time to pay the fee. During Festival, get together with your escort (if any) and attend the winter ball if you wish.
