Here goes... The rule of six is a lot of smoke and mirrors! Here is the proof: At 105 ships, I buy the upgrade. I have a minimum of 6 hours before I will see another. For each ship I buy over that, it only take about TWO hours to pay for itself. Price of upgrade if I go to, and stick with 111 ships: 32,056,800 If I buy the 112th ship, the price will jump 288,800 in 6 hours, that one extra ship will get you 5600 more a turn 288,800/5600 = 51.571429 That's how many turns it will take you to make up for that extra ship, which is just over 4 te3k years, and under the 6 RL hours. Just something to think about!

I will add to this, saying that selling ships to get closer to the required ships for an upgrade will cost a player significantly more, than just riding it out. Up to a point, it will end up costing some more than it's worth to have too many ships, but I'm too lazy to do that much math!
