Mu Trade Federation
The Mu Trade Federation is headed by Buckaroo Mu, Guild Leader. This page is to introduce you to our goals, ideals, and codes of conduct.
History of the Mu Trade Federation
Buckaroo Mu, founder and head of line, started playing about 6 hours after release of Tiny Empires 3000. With the help of some friends from TE: Classic, he rose in rank fairly quickly. Initially assigned to Zuma Vader, he moved to be a direct subject of Director Tristan Stovall. The line later moved to Flonne Ninetails and the Alliance of Serenity Guild. On August 22nd at 10:10pm, the Mu Trade Federation was officially formed.
Buckaroo Mu reached the rank of Captain at 12:36am on Sunday, April 5, 2009, and the rank of Director at 11:30pm May 24th.
Values
The symbol we use to represent our line, 無, is the Japanese ideogram "Mu" (pronounced "Wu" in Chinese), which also happens to be the last name of our Guild Leader. The literal translation means "No-Thing" - but in addition, it represents the ultimate Negation. For instance, the classic unanswerable question "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?" - if you've never started beating your wife, the question can't be answered in English. However, 無 IS the correct answer, symbolizing that the question itself is invalid. This symbol also defines well the object of our Guild - no drama, no concern for numbers, no fighting to rise above other Guilds. We do not seek fame and fortune. We only want to play the game.
The Mu Trade Federation is founded on a set of core principals.
- Support for the Guild - Recruitment from within the Guild is prohibited. Rearrangements within the Guild are allowed only with the consent of all players affected.
- No Sabotage - It's a waste of credits, and every time you sabotage, the odds of your name coming up as a target increase.
- Playing to Enjoy - Tiny Empires 3000 is designed to be a social game, not one you "win". We value the relationships we build, and will not trade our values for a higher place in the standings.
- Honorable Gameplay - When we bribe, we don't offer subjects or out-of-game benefits (L$ or merchandise). If you don't want to join us unless we hurt another player's line by moving subjects to you, we don't want you. After all, you wouldn't want us to move players from your line to improve someone else's, would you?
- Support for the Individual Downlines - While we encourage giving ships to your downline, we will never ask (and actively discourage) ships to be given upwards. "Everybody does it" is not an acceptable excuse - a player's upline exists to support his or her downline, not to leech from it. Ships given down will benefit your downline, while still counting toward your total.
The Flagship
The Mu Trade Federation Flagship is a hangout open to all Guilds and Lines. We must enforce a policy of no recruiting, although use may use the space for arranged Superior changes. We also have Chess and 7Seas Fishing available, and plan to offer custom TE3K-themed fish (not available yet). A HUD Fund Donation Box (owned by Trader Vick) is there to collect donations to help new players afford the full TE3K HUD (for members of the Mu Trade Federation only).
The Mu Trade Federation HUD Fund
The Mu Trade Federation has set up a HUD Fund to help new players afford the L$999 Tiny Empires 3000 HUD. This offer requires that the player be a member of, and a good faith promise to stay with, the Mu Trade Federation. We also ask that players who receive their HUD through this donate back to the fund when they are capable. Every L$ helps. This is not designed as a cheap way to get the HUD, but more as a Loan to help new players until they can afford the full price.
The HUD fund Donation Box is located just inside the Flagship. It is owned by "Trader Vick", an alt used solely for this purpose. Simply pay the box, or the avatar "Trader Vick" (if you don't want to visit the Flagship) however much you wish to donate.
If you or your subject would like to receive a HUD with the assistance of the HUD fund, please contact Buckaroo Mu (preferably by NC) with the name of the person who needs the HUD. Trader Vick will use the funds he has available to purchase "Gift" HUDs which are transferable for full price, then sell them to the player in need for L$600 - a savings of nearly L$400. This ensures that we are not giving away cash - one way or another, the person receiving the benefit will be playing Tiny Empires 3000.
If the HUD Fund collects a minimum of $9,999, it allows us to purchase 11 Gift HUDs for the price of 10 - a further savings for the Fund.
To those who think that L$600 is still too high a price to pay, remember that L$600 is about US$2.62. Players who purchase through the Fund will have their names kept on a list until they have repaid the loan to the HUD Fund - and players who leave the Mu Trade Federation without repaying will be listed publicly in the Flagship and here on the Wiki. This is a Honour System, and I really want this to be beneficial to the line without being taken advantage of.
