Okay, the Emperor made my life more complicated in keeping this up.

Now it would appear that we have three classes of kingdom -- kingdoms on the map, minor kingdoms with full powers, and minor kingdoms in the older sense without full powers. And there is no way to tell the two latter classes apart with certainty on generally available information.

Monarchs

The highest ranks now held by regular players of Tiny Empires are King and Queen ([[Ranks|rank 10]]), collectively known as '''Monarchs'''. Each monarch rules over one Tiny Empires kingdom, and there is only one monarch per kingdom. A King or Queen who gives up ''(abdicates)'' a kingdom reverts to being a Prince or Princess.

==Becoming a monarch==

There are three requirements to become a monarch:

# Hold 20,000 or more total acres.
# Hold 1,000 or more personal acres. (In the early days this requirement was 500 acres.)
# Complete the [[Path to Royalty]], seventeen upgrades to the realm costing about 400 million gold. These requirements have become somewhat tougher over time.

==Powers of a monarch==

The powers available only to monarchs are many and varied. In recent times it has become possible for the monarch of a large kingdom to appoint [[Viceroy|viceroys]] to exercise some of these powers on a limited basis.

===Tax amnesties===

The current amnesty procedure was adopted in 2008, putting an end to "tax wars" between kingdoms. Now every kingdom is permitted to grant periodic amnesties from taxes for three game years. After each amnesty 24 hours must elapse before the monarch will be offered another opportunity.

The monarch pays a substantial fee for each amnesty at the time it is scheduled. The anmesty, when offered, can be scheduled to occur immediately, in five years, in 15 years, or in 30 years.

===Bestowing favour===

A monarch is offered the opportunity to bestow favour on a selected subject several times per day. This will not succeed unless the proposed recipient is online. The monarch pays a substantial fee, and the recipient receives five acres of land from the Emperor. Good fortune also tends to attend the recipient and direct subjects for the ensuing year.

Bestowing favour is also part of the process for creating new viceroys.

The 5 acre parcel is only free to each citizen one time. After that, there is a small, increasing charge for each subsequent grant to the same citizen. The charge is only applied if you agree to give the land grant. So for retitling and making V/GV, there is no need to pay the extra amount. Of course you may still give 5 acre land grants to anyone, unlimited times. It's just that the repeat grants are no longer free.

===Granting custom titles===

A monarch may grant custom titles to selected subjects. These titles are generally granted as part of the process of bestowing favour. They are available to all ranks, and will display in the HUD in place of the normal game rank based on acres. The Emperor has strictly-enforced guidelines on what manner of titles may be granted. A title may not be more than 20 characters long, including spaces.

When a viceroy grants a title, the process is similar but the viceroy cannot bestow favour.

===Bulk land purchases===

A monarch receives opportunities to make bulk land purchases for the kingdom. A fee is set, related to the number and ranks of kingdom members online at the time of offer. Acceptance of the offer grants one new acre of land from the Emperor to each kingdom member online except the monarch.

At least 24 hours must elapse between successive land grants.

===Hosting festivals===

Each [[Federation HUD#Festival|festival]] is hosted by a particular kingdom, whose monarch won an auction for the privilege.

===Prison and banishment===

A monarch receives opportunities to imprison members of the kingdom or banish foreigners from it. These incur substantial fees. An imprisoned citizen loses five acres. A banished player may not be in any line in that kingdom under any conditions.

The kingdom of Camelot, ruled by Queen FoxyKim Keegan, was formed in September 2007. It was the second kingdom ever established in Tiny Empires.

The realm is said to have gotten its start in the Neo-Realms fishing game. A number of Camelot dignitaries are active tournament hosts, including Her Majesty, and many others are found throughout the ranking lists.

Camelot has almost always been among the top five kingdoms in the rankings. It has spun off six daughter kingdoms including #1 ranked Avalon, Tintagel, and most recently [[New Deseret]].

New Deseret

===About the kingdom===

The Kingdom of New Deseret began as a principality within the Kingdom of [[Camelot]]. It grew to become an independent kingdom in the game on 13 December 2008, the sixth kingdom to ascend from Camelot.

The group of players that make up New Deseret in Tiny Empires have almost all started since 23 June 2008, when Valentine Janus started to play and recruited Ingeborg Apfelbaum and Seth Troell. We use the name because many of us, but by no means all, have ties to the Latter-day Saint communities in Second Life®. In fact, Princess Tascha Klees actually owned the Deseret sim and later sold it to Valentine.

We try to play nice and have fun together. Queen Valentine expresses it simply: "I do not accept, offer, or solicit bribes, and do not engage in sabotage." She encourages these values.

===As a set of Second Life sims===

On 13 October 2008 New Deseret took on a physical presence within the Second Life world as Valentine bought two sims from Tascha. After a little maneuvering the State of New Deseret was formed, at one time composed of five sims but now reverted to two following the Linden Lab price increases on openspace sims. Val's longstanding recreation business reorganized and moved in.

The City of Enoch sim is a sky city 500m above an open water surface, with only a small fishing camp breaking the expanse of navigable water. The Deseret sim is connected by land to the Zarahemla sim in the south, and by water to City of Enoch in the east, with the small airfield-village of Uchtdorf on an island to the north. Both sims have lots for sale.

On Friday the 12th of October, 2007, our loved '''Queen Bootski Broome''' founded Lothlorien as the newest kingdom in Tiny Empires. As all Tolkien fans know, Lothlórien is an Elfen name:

::Like those of Northern Mirkwood, the people of Lothlórien were mostly Silvan Elves of Nandorin descent, who were originally of all the Eldar those who most closely resembled the lost Avari of the east. As such, their earlier settlements lay scattered throughout the wide forests on both sides of the upper Anduin, having originally lingered there upon refusing the crossing of the Hithaeglir in very ancient times. The Elvish name for Lothlórien was Laurelindórenan but it was made shorter perhaps because the forest was fading and not growing. Meanwhile, the origin of the name 'Lórien' is derived from 'Lothlórien', which makes it a further derivation of 'Laurelindórenan'.

Queendom of Godiva

Queen Peachy Sassoon ascended and formed the Queendom of Godiva on Sunday, September 17, 2008, from the Kingdom of Charm. Queen Peachy had been a long time member in the Kingdom of Charm, in fact this is the only kingdom she was in. Rumor has it that she had been in Charm since December '07 or January '08 (Do you know when you came??????).

Queen Peachy along with Prince Xerxes Sismondi throw immersive theme parties twice a week at Drama Libre. While other places keep the same club and the same old thing happening, Drama Libre is torn down and they rebuild the entire set every week to match the themes. Please come and join in the fun Thu 5pm to 9pm SL time or Sat 8pm to Sun 2am SL time.

That is just one of the many fun things going on over at Godiva. Of course we wouldn't be called Godiva if we weren't about having YUMMY CHOCOLATES riiiiiiiight? lol Our group chat is very active and you can always find someone willing to help you out if you have a problem or question.

Of course we continue our alliances with the kingdoms we previously were in as well as those that are friends of Queen Peachy. At Godiva we encourage friendships and know they can only improve as our Queendom gets bigger. We discourage sabotaging as we want to remain peaceful not only with our former kingdoms and friends but with our neighbors as well.

We hope you will consider joining us in Godiva. We would love to have you! And please feel free to ask any of us for a yummy piece of Godiva chocolate.
